Verte is an eco-friendly products shopping app that classifies products into categories based on how eco-friendly products help and affect the environment.

In average, one person in the U.S. produces about 4.5 pounds of waste each day, 267 million tons of trash per year (2020 study by the EPA)

Mindful of this, various eco-friendly products are being released, but it's difficult to recognize which products are truly eco-friendly products

Hard to realize why green products are better for the environment than others in detail

Competitive Analysis
I did competitive analysis of two similar service apps:
Grove App / GreenDay App

  • No different category from e-commerce apps
  • Not easy to intuitively find information about why the products are good for the environment
  • There were wide range of informations about lifestyles rather than journals that people could be interested in the environment

User Interviews

Most of my interviewees agreed that they care about the environment. Still, it was difficult to understand why and how each eco-friendly products are helpful to the environment, simply due to inefficient and insufficient information.

How might we efficiently get an information
about how each eco-friendly product helps
the environment while using a shopping app?

👉🏻 Understanding at a glance

Categorizes eco-friendly products based on how they help the environment and intuitively shows why.

👉🏻 Informative shopping experience

It aims to provide new content that can easily recognize the importance of eco-friendly products, and explore beneficial purchasing experiences that lead to purchase.

👉🏻 Share the efforts around the world

Shares various worldwide efforts to make a better world beyond environment to enhance interest in the whole planet including people.

Users can meet the brand aesthetics of warm nature for the first time. The button displays the onboarding steps.

  1. Intuitive categories based on how products help the environment.
  2. Display news and journals about global efforts to enhance users' interest in the environment.
  3. With Verte’s contribution to the environment (Donation), users can get beneficial purchasing experiences.

Through several updates, I approached a simple and informative concept of an app that is clearly different from the existing e-commerce app.

Product Page

Provides a brief description of the categories and products to help users understand how products in each category help the planet while exploring various categories.

Q. Why are the products categorized by types of eco-friendly products?
The app aims to provide an informative experience where people can learn more about eco-friendly products and get information.

Detail Page

    1. Intuitively shows three reasons why each product is beneficial to the Earth.
    2. By adding an End of life and eco-verifications, users understand how this product can return to nature and is truly beneficial to the planet.

To increase users' interest in the environment, a new journal section shows various news or articles about global efforts for the planet. Some articles link directly to the product page to increase the purchase rate.

Journal :

For the better world

Beyond eco-friendly products, Verte shares a broad global effort for humans and for a better world. Add videos and links to bring users’ interest and get more information or to involve directly.

I tried to approach a simple but interesting design that made users want to see the article.
